Alyse McKeal, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, having earned her Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from Florida Atlantic University. In addition, she has a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from the University of South Florida. Alyse completed her undergraduate degree at Rutgers University.
Alyse’s approach to therapy is grounded in attachment theory. She also works from a strengths based, multicultural, solution focused, and client-centered therapeutic approach. Alyse implements eclectic techniques in therapy including: CBT, Non-Violent Communication, EMDR, Inner child work, DBT, and Psychodrama. She utilizes such expressive therapeutic approaches as Journaling, Art, Sand Tray Therapy, and Play Therapy. Alyse incorporates mindfulness including relaxation techniques, breath work, meditation, and the mind/body connection into her therapeutic work. Several of these modalities are effective and gentle methods to address trauma, anxiety, depression, pain management, unresolved childhood issues, grief and loss, addiction, and other difficult life issues.
Alyse works with individuals (all ages), couples, groups, and all types of families to improve their lives, communication and coping skills. She loves working with children and their families, and is currently working on her certification in Play Therapy. She is a level one trained Gottman therapist which she uses with couples in their therapy. Alyse stands in support and as an advocate of diversity. She is an ally of the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ community, as well as a supportive and empowering therapist. Alyse works with clients to identify their needs and to develop manageable goals. She utilizes her non-judgmental approach, compassion, kindness, and warmth in working with her clients in meeting their desired goals.
