My name is Erin McKinney and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I attained my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University, then went on to complete my Master’s degree in Social Work. I have worked in different treatment settings from community based care with children to outpatient substance abuse with adults. I currently work with adolescents, children and adults. My speciality is providing support to parents in navigating the different developmental stages of their children. Parenting is not one size fits all; you might be a single parent, an alienated parent, a parent questioning divorce, or a parent in a supportive marriage, but struggling with behavioral issues. I believe in the importance of exploring our own childhood and life experiences which can be impacting our relationships. I utilize a mixture of couples and individual therapy to address issues, while drawing from different evidenced-based interventions such as DBT, CBT, Client Centered, Solution Focused and Systems theories. I am a Gottman Level I trained therapist which allows me to assist couples in developing a healthy relationship and communicate through conflict.
We are all impacted by our environment and that includes our relationships, whether it be with family, friends, coworkers or ourselves. Relationships are complex causing them to require an understanding of oneself as well as communication skills and boundary setting. Often we experience symptoms of anxiety or depression due to these conflicts within our lives. There is no one size fits all when it comes to therapy, so let’s work together to tailor your therapy experience. I provide flexible scheduling for daytime, evening and weekends. I look forward to being on this journey with you!
