Alzheimer’s and Havoc on the Family/ Alzheimer y Estragos en la Familia

Being a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer’s can be devastating. It’s a gradual erasure of memories for the patient and a constant reminder of a life of memories lost for the caregiver. Coping with Alzheimer’s is much easier if you know how to navigate the stormy seas of this disease. Talking to someone who’s been there and adjusting along the way has been short of miraculous for me and our family.

It started for me by reading the 36 Hour Day. It was eye opening experience and insightfully rich with stories of what I was going through. I was looking through the eyes of the writer. There have been so many incidences that ruined the day and relationship with my mother when my father was not aware of what was happening to her or why she was changing so fast. My clients have had the same experiences which have caused so much pain and arguments within their families. The tips I received from research, reading, collegial meetings and talking to others have been invaluable in assisting my family walk through this painful process. I can help you with what I’ve learned to find peace in the storm and even help you find parts of comic relief.
